• Scratches: Fine lines or marks on the surface that can affect the stone's luster and smoothness.
• Pits: Small, shallow depressions on the sapphire's surface, which can detract from its visual appeal.
• Nicks: Small chips or gouges along the edges or facets of the sapphire, often resulting from wear or the cutting process.
• Abrasion: Wearing or rubbing on the sapphire's facets or edges, making them appear dull and less defined.
• Fractures: Cracks that reach the surface of the sapphire, which can compromise its structural integrity and reduce its value.

While blemishes can affect a sapphire's beauty, minor surface imperfections are not uncommon and do not significantly detract from the gemstone's overall allure, especially if it displays vibrant color and good clarity.
